Lyra is situated near Ophiuchus and Hercules in the sky. In South Africa this can be viewed to the North-East at 10 at night, and to the north at 3 am.

Lyra with its main star Vega, is the Black Tortoise of Feng Shui and Altair to the south is the Phoenix rising from the ashes.

Mercury found the body of a tortoise cast up by the Milky Way. The tortoise had three strings that could be used as a lyre to enchant, lull and control the environment.

Greece saw it as Hermes that while walking along the banks of the Nile river found a tortoise shell with stretched tendons, which the wind set in vibration to produce enchanting music.

China maintains that the emperor Wu found a giant tortoise crawling out of the Yellow River with a magic three-by-three square on it. Each horizontal, vertical and diagonal added up to 15, the number of days it takes from the new moon to the full moon, and from the full moon to the next new moon. This is also known as the LoShu (Saturn) Square that is used as a Feng Shui tool. The Chinese sees its brightest star Vega, as the 'Spinning Maiden' or 'Weaving Sister' (Hsu Nu) connoted to weaving a web and to architecture.

Chanting and praying are an important part of Wesak. Offer flowers, incense, candles and lights.This is a day to remember to live a righteous and noble life, to practice loving-kindness and to bring peace and harmony to humanity. The 'Bathing the Buddha' ceremony is also often included. Water is poured over the shoulders of the Buddha as a reminder to purify their own minds from greed, hatred and ignorance. Gifts are taken to an altar to be offered to the Buddha statues. This shows respect and gratitude to the Buddha for his life and teachings.

Bringing happiness to others[edit]
Celebrating Vesākha also means making special efforts to bring happiness to the unfortunate like the aged, the handicapped and the sick. To this day, Buddhists will distribute gifts in cash and kind to various charitable homes throughout the country. Vesākha is also a time for great joy and happiness, expressed not by pandering to one’s appetites but by concentrating on useful activities such as decorating and illuminating temples, painting and creating exquisite scenes from the life of the Buddha for public dissemination. Devout Buddhists also vie with one another to provide refreshments and vegetarian food to followers who visit the temple to pay homage to the Enlightened One.

Ganesh Chaturthi is the birthday of Lord Ganesha who is honored as:
the Ascended Master of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.
Lord Ganesha is also the patron Saint of Astrology.

Ganesha Chaturthi starts on the fourth day after the new moon in Virgo. It is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi. It is a Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha also known as Ganapati, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

The elephant figure is a 'representation' for the' energy' of wisdom and good fortune.

Ganesh Chaturthi starts today and ends after 10 days on Ananta Chaturdasi.

To attract this benevolent and blessed energy wear shades of red and burn red candles.
Decorate your dining room with flowers, fruit (especially bananas) and sweets.
Be generous and give in order to receive.
Go vegetarian for the next 10 days.

Southern Hemisphere Mabon:
*Some writers suggest that all the celebrations should be turned around for the Southern Hemisphere and that during Mabon we should celebrate Ostara (Easter). Spiritual celebrations are universal and cannot be turned around for the simple fact that they are based on the movement and placement of the planets and not on the seasons.
*To switch it on the basis of seasons is flawed. I have studied esoteric subjects since I can remember and have lived in both the Northern and the Southern Hemisphere. The Southern Hemisphere does not encounter the same severe winters as the Northern Hemisphere. I live in Johannesburg and sit and tan outside next to my pool in winter. When I lived in England in the winter, I was dressed like a padded Eskimo when I went outside and still froze half to death.
*Most plants continue to grow in our winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
*Animals don't need to hibernate in the Southern Hemisphere winter (only reptiles).
*The reason the ancients said that Fire (Heat) is South are numerous:
-The Southern Hemisphere countries are hotter and closer to the equator than the
countries in the Northern Hemisphere.
-The Red Phoenix rising from the ashes of the South (Feng Shui): from June to December
the Sun (Son of God) travels south where he dies on the Southern Cross on the
22nd December to rise three days later. For this very reason we all celebrate Christ-mass
on 25 December. To suggest that the Southern Hemisphere should celebrate Christmas
in June would be faulty as there is no cross in the Northern Hemisphere sky where the sun
stays on the same lateral for 3days without moving.
*At Easter the Sun (Son of God) is resurrected. To suggest that the Southern Hemisphere should celebrate Easter in September is absurd. The Sun travels from the South back to the North. The movement of the planets do not change.
*Mabon falls close to Ganesha Chaturthi and its purpose is the same - to remove obstacles, find courage and balance.
*Imbolc is similar to Shivaratri and the Pagan Festival in Brazil (5 day carnaval).
These celebrations all occur when the new moon enters Aquarius (tropical) / Capricorn (sidereal) in
February and cannot be moved to August no matter where you live on the planet.
*These festivals are based on the movement of the planets.
A study or research in Astro-theology clearly reveals this.
